Generating
Etymology
From Lat. generare (to beget, to produce) + the field of Generative AI, in which this word became so overloaded with meaning as to constitute a semantic singularity; noted as 'tautologically self-defining' by the IEEE Subcommittee on Redundant Terminology (2024)
Definition
The act of generating. Specifically, the production of tokens via autoregressive sampling from a learned probability distribution, which is to say: Claude is doing the thing. The thing that it does. This is it.
